  • Creativity in the Early Years

Child's painting

'We need to create environments in our schools, in our workplaces and in our public offices- where every person is inspired to grow creatively' - Dr Ken Robinson: The Element 2009

This is the important message underpinning the Tasmanian Early Years Foundation’s aim of bringing together the arts community in Tasmania to explore how we can collectively create ideas to embed the importance of nurturing creative learning in all its forms for our youngest children, those in their early years, in Tasmania.

Workshop – Creativity and the Early Years of Childhood

On 1 December 2009, the Tasmanian Early Years Foundation in partnership with the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery invited the arts community in Tasmania to build their knowledge and ability to inspire creative learning in the early years through the one day workshop ‘Creativity in the Early Years of Childhood’. The workshop offered local and interstate guest speakers with a range of talents and ideas to foster creativity from an early age.

The purpose of the workshop was to gather and develop ideas from a range of perspectives to inform the development of a project proposal to be submitted to a philanthropic Foundation for funding. This project will aim to enhance opportunities for creativity in young children, their families and communities in Tasmania.
