• Ms Alison Jacob

From 2006 - 2010, Alison Jacob was Deputy Secretary (Human Services) in the Department of Health and Human, with responsibility for Children and Family Services, Youth Justice, Housing Services and Disability Services. Prior to this appointment, Alison worked for thirty years in the Department of Education and was most recently Deputy Secretary (School Education).

Alison is a registered psychologist who also has a Masters degree in special education and a particular interest in people with disabilities and special needs. She was instrumental in the establishment of early learning services and education for children with severe disabilities in this State. She has served on many national committees and working parties related to special education, literacy and student assessment.

Alison and her husband Doug keep fit by regular ballroom dancing and are currently Australian champions at their grade and age level.
