Ian is the CEO of St Giles, a not-for-profit organisation which provides assistance for 6 000 children and support for many adults living with disability in Tasmania.  St Giles is Tasmania's largest provider of children's therapy services, with a staff of 250.

Prior to his role with St Giles, Ian had 30 years' experince in public accountancy.  Ian is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a Member of the Institute of Company Directors.  Ian has been involved with a range of community organisations and professional bodies, including as a member of the taskforce for the implementation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
