Ron Banks

Mr Banks is a high profile Tasmanian businessperson. Until his recent retirement, he was the owner of the Banks Patton advertising firm in Tasmania.

Mr Banks is a Member of the Board of Governors of the University of Tasmania Foundation Inc. The Foundation Governors are prominent members of the community and significant donors to the University Foundation. Governors have the opportunity to become actively involved in the Foundation and to contribute to its development. Mr Banks also initiated the Art Foundation of Tasmania in the 1980’s and was Chairman of the Foundation for several years.

Mr Banks has also been involved as a prominent member of the following organisations:
  • President of The State Presidents of Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA) - 2002-03;
  • Chairman of The Royal Society Foundation;
  • Director of The Royal Hobart Hospital Research Foundation;
  • Tasmanian representative on the Australia Business Arts Foundation;
  • Former Member of Citizens’ Advisory Board to The Salvation Army. Listed as retired member 2000-04; and
  • State President in 1994 of Australian Institute of Company Directors – now life member.
